Tamiya Corporation is a well known Japanese manufacturer of RC Nitro cars. Tamiya actually makes more than just racing models. They are also known for making plastic model kits, battery- and solar-powered educational models, sailboat reproductions, and acrylic and enamel models. They also make modeling tools and supplies. Founded by Yoshio Tamiya in 1946, this company is revered throughout the world for their quality models. They are known for creating accurate scale reproductions; quality is part of their business mentality. In fact, their logo is “first in quality around the world.” They are also well known for regularly winning the “model of the year” award provided by Model Fan magazine.
It was in 1976 that Tamiya Corporation entered the RC Nitro car market. Their very first RC product was the Porsche 934 Turbo RSR. These models are sold internationally. Famous models from the company include Countach Competition Special, Ford F-150 Ranger, Toyota Hilux 4x4, and the Super Champ model. Other great models include the Twin Detonator, Chevrolet Blazing Blazer, Grasshopper, Keen Hawk, Wild Dagger, and Double Blaze. Still more models are the Mighty Frog, Wild One, Hornet, Can-Am Lola Racing Master, Blackfoot Extreme, and Mountaineer.
Along with models such as the Subaru Brat, Lancia Rally, Hotshot, Desert Gator, Sand Viper, the company also made the Avante 2001, Top Force, Dyna Storm, and Dark Impact, among others. The company also makes video game and cell phone components in addition to robot-making kits. With all this technological wizardry going on at Tamiya, it is no wonder their RC Nitro cars are so wonderful. This world-class company produces some of the best RC cars year after year. With divisions in the United States, Europe, the Phillipines, and Japan, it is no wonder this large company has such a hold on the world of RC Nitro cars.
